Grocery List and Week's Menu

One of the most important things I can do is to plan my meals for the week.  While it takes a little bit of forward thinking, pantry inspection and patience, it is well worth it in the end.  We tend to spend between $100 - $120 a week on our groceries (but since I've been budgeting, we stay around $80, whoo hoo) and that generally includes all food, paper towels, dog food, kitchen bags, ect.  We didn't understand why it was so high until we realized that eating fresh foods everyday will definitely take a toll on your wallet.  We are happy to do that now because its worth it.

Shaina's Shopping and Planning

The Planning-  I go grocery shopping on Sunday's, but on Friday I do a dry run through the pantry and the fridge to see what I have.  Once I have a good idea of what's left over from the previous week, I start making the weekly plan.

The printable can be found here with a bunch of other home management printables.

Then I get out my ridiculous amount of pens and start making the list.  Make sure to plan your eating out meals as well.

The Meals- TheHubby and I eat very differently during the week.  What you see above is my weekly eating schedule.  We have very similar dinners, except he has rice and I usually make a veggie stir fry.  He is working on building up his muscle so I make him more of a body builders menu (yes I make them both).  I try to stay within 1400-1600 calories depending on if I Workout or not (and I try to 5-6 days a week).  I almost always start the day with eggs, and I feel no need to have grains everyday.

The List-  My list is color coded for easy shopping and handwritten just because I love writing things by hand lol.  Veggies are green, fruits are orange, meat is black, dairy is purple, and extra tidbits are silver. I have question marks next to certain things because my eating will depend on my weight in the morning and if I plan to work out that day.  I like to leave room for options.  When a schedule is too strict is can be hard to abide by it.

Do you plan a menu every week?
